Create compositions 8 bars long
Key of “C” Major
Time signature is 4/4

Some things to try to make your melody interesting

•	Start your melody with the “home” bass note and return home throughout your melody.
Use repetition of melody ideas
Use “rests” for silence
Try to use a linear approach to the line of your melody. Try not to use large leaps
Use melodic “sequence”. (Think of Beethovens’ 5th, BaDaDaDum, BaDaDaDum)
•	Focus on Rhythm - make your melody interesting by introducing different rhythms
•	Add Dynamics
•	Try changing the Instrument choice to one of a different Timbre

Third Day, Tuesday April 14, 09’

 *Continue to compose your melodies.

When you finish your first melody, chose “share” found on the right of the window in “noteflight”. First check the box marked “ Share this score with others” and also the box “allow others to discover this score”. Then “Share” the score with “copy” button and you can put the URL into an email. Then please email it to me so I can forward it to the teachers in Vermont for assessment and feedback.

*Listen back to your melody and identify what you think worked and didn’t work. Use more of what didn’t work and try to fix what didn’t work in a second 8 bar melody.
