What is a Synthesizer?















 
Project Outline

Investigate the history of the synthesizer.  

Your goal is to create a article using the software of your choice that presents the history of the synthesizer.  It should include an article expressing your views on how the synthesizer and other electronic instruments have changed the music industry.

Include appropriate pictures and sound files.

You might consider using a software you have on your computer at home so you can complete this project for homework if necessary.  

*Be sure to review the Summative Assessment Criteria below before starting your project and use it as a check list before you hand in your completed work for assessment.

Step 1
Watch Video Tutorial and recreate patch using CIRCLE software synthsizer
How to Create Classic FX Synthesizer Patches

Step 2
Investigate the history of the synthesizer using the online resources listed below

Step 3
Create an electronic poster/illustration that outlines the history of synthesis.  Feature your article stating your views on how the synthesizer has changed the way we make music.  

Give some thought as to how music would be different if we didn’t have electronic intruments.  

For example, would we still have Rock Music?
Would the Beatles and Rolling Stones still be popular?
Would the same songs be popular with electric instruments?  

You may chose the medium form you would like to use from the many software titles available on our studio computers.  If you would like use something else please check with your teacher before moving ahead.

Assessment

Summative Assessment Criteria

Project is well organized and visually impressive.  Student has used the technologies in a creative way.

Project depicts an excellent outline of the history of synthesis by including 
at least 10 important inventions or events.

Your views on how synthesis has changed the way we create and listen to music should be formed into an article that is thought provoking and insightful.  

Include a Bibliography.

Check to make sure you have included all of the above before putting a copy of your final work in your drop box for assessment.
